What is a Singing Bowl?

Singing bowls, also known as Himalayan bowls, are widely used in yoga, music therapy, sound healing, and religious ceremonies. In the Buddhist tradition, they are played to mark the beginning and end of silent meditation cycles.

Tibetan singing bowls produce pure, resonant tones similar to sine waves, symbolizing purity in sound. Like a bell, they are played by striking the side with a wooden mallet. By gently running the mallet around the rim with slight pressure, the bowl begins to “sing,” creating a continuous and soothing vibration.

Request a Sound Check

We personally inspect each singing bowl to ensure sound quality and resonance. However, if you wish to hear the sound before purchasing, we offer a sound check service for a nominal fee of $2. This non-refundable deposit will be deducted from your invoice upon purchase.

Note: Due to microphone and speaker limitations, the recorded sound may not fully capture the bowl’s actual resonance.

Mandala – A Sacred Buddhist Art

Mandala Thangka painting is a revered form of sacred Buddhist art, traditionally created on cotton or silk. These intricate paintings feature a central deity or Buddha figure surrounded by symmetrical patterns, geometric designs, and symbolic elements.

Mandala Thangkas serve as visual guides for meditation and spiritual growth, leading practitioners towards inner peace, harmony, and enlightenment. Their precise brushwork and deep symbolism invite contemplation of profound spiritual journeys, fostering mindfulness, concentration, and a deeper connection to Buddhist universal truths.

The Hand-Beaten Crafting Process

The creation of a handmade bronze singing bowl follows an intricate, time-honored tradition:

  1. Metal Alloy Formation – A blend of copper and tin is melted and poured into a mold to shape the bowl.
  2. Hand Hammering – Skilled artisans hammer and refine the bowl, ensuring a balanced tone and resonant sound.
  3. Polishing & Carving – The bowl is polished to a high shine and adorned with intricate Buddhist or Hindu-inspired designs.

Each step requires expertise and precision, ensuring a unique sound and exceptional craftsmanship.

Exquisite Etching & Carving

This singing bowl features an exceptionally high-quality etching and carving process. Unlike standard etched bowls, which often have thicker lines, this piece has been designed by a master Thangka artist. Their fine brushwork results in intricate, well-defined details, making this a truly exquisite and collectible piece.
