Green Tara: Brief Introduction
Green Tara, or Samaya Tara, is celebrated as the embodiment of swift compassion and active benevolence. She is depicted in a royal ease posture, with her left leg folded and her right leg extending over a blue lotus, ready to rise and assist those in need. Adorned with maroon robes and intricate jewelry, her earrings symbolize patience, understanding, and renunciation. Her diadem, set with five jewels, represents the transmutation of the five delusions into the Five Buddha Wisdoms. Seated upon a white moon disk—a symbol of wisdom linked to the naval chakra—she radiates serenity and grace. Her right hand extends in Varada mudra, the gesture of granting boons, offering blessings and protection to all beings.

Gold Painted Face
The face of Green Tara is hand-painted with gold, emphasizing her eyes, lips, and refined features that metal carving alone cannot fully convey. In Buddhist tradition, this act is a sacred ritual that awakens the spiritual presence of the statue. The gold paint imbues the statue with life and vitality, reflecting both the devotion of the artisans and the sacred essence of Green Tara.

Partly Gold Plating
This statue features a partly gold-plated finish using the traditional Nepali fire gilding technique. Artisans carefully mask areas to protect them from gold application, then expose specific surfaces to high heat, allowing gold to adhere perfectly. The contrast between the golden-plated body and the oxidized or painted garments symbolizes the divine purity of the enlightened form alongside the modest attire of a monk. This method enhances detail and elegance while honoring the cultural and spiritual significance of the statue.

Lost-Wax System
Crafted via the ancient lost-wax method, a detailed wax model is first sculpted and coated with ceramic layers to form a mold. Once cured, the wax is melted out, and molten copper fills the cavity. After cooling, the ceramic shell is removed, revealing a finely detailed statue that preserves the precision and artistry of the original design.
