About Green Tara
Green Tara, also known as Samaya Tara, is a revered female Bodhisattva of compassion and swift action. She is portrayed in a posture of royal ease, her right leg folded inward while her left leg extends gracefully over a blooming blue lotus—ready to rise and respond instantly to the suffering of sentient beings.

Her form radiates warmth and readiness. She is adorned in maroon Buddhist robes and elegant jewelry, with symbolic meanings embedded in every detail. Her earrings represent patience, understanding, and renunciation. The five-jewel diadem on her head signifies the transformation of the five delusions into the Five Wisdoms of the Buddhas.

Green Tara is shown seated on a white moon disc, associated with healing nectar and the naval chakra. In Buddhist iconography, the moon symbolizes the wisdom aspect of enlightenment, which, when united with compassion, leads to the full awakening realized by the Buddha. Her right hand is extended downward in Varada Mudra, the gesture of giving and generosity.

About the Sacred Serenity Collection
This statue belongs to the Sacred Serenity Collection—a series of statues handcrafted 15 to 20 years ago. Unlike most modern pieces, these old-stock statues reflect the traditional depth of craftsmanship and spiritual purpose. They are made of solid copper and, when gilded, feature a rich, thick layer of gold—a practice less common today due to rising material costs.

The artisans who created these statues were deeply rooted in Buddhist teachings. Each piece was crafted with devotion, following sacred iconographic texts and guidelines. These artists saw their work not as decoration, but as sacred representations of enlightened beings—imbuing each statue with presence and authenticity.

Seku Design: A Heritage of Newari Craftsmanship
This Green Tara features the rare and intricate Seku design, a traditional Newari art form passed down through generations. Seku involves the delicate application of fine copper or silver wire to form ornamental patterns and borders. This meticulous handwork exemplifies the rich artistic legacy of the Newar culture and adds both beauty and cultural value to the piece.

Antique Patina Finish
While this is not an antique statue, it features a carefully applied antique patina finish that gives the appearance of age and sacred history. Through specialized methods, the artisans have aged the surface to resemble a time-worn spiritual object, achieving a finish that carries the warmth, depth, and character of true antiquity. It’s a tribute to traditional techniques and the skill of artists who specialize in aging sculptures with authenticity and grace.

Lost-Wax Casting Method
This Green Tara statue is made using the lost-wax casting technique, also known as investment casting—a revered method used for centuries. The process begins with a detailed wax model, which is coated with a ceramic shell. Once hardened, the wax is melted out, leaving a mold that is then filled with molten copper. After cooling, the ceramic shell is broken away, revealing the final statue—faithfully capturing every fine detail of the original model. This process ensures that each statue is not only accurate but also one-of-a-kind.
