Who is Green Tara?
Green Tara, also known as Samaya Tara, is revered as the embodiment of enlightened activity and swift compassion. She is known as the Mother of Liberation, always ready to respond to the calls of those in need. Depicted in a posture of royal ease, her left leg is folded in meditation while the right leg extends outward, symbolizing her readiness to spring into action to protect and assist.
Her right hand displays the Varada mudra, the gesture of granting boons and blessings, while her left hand holds a lotus, signifying purity and liberation from suffering. Adorned with maroon Buddhist robes, jewelry, and symbolic ornaments, she radiates wisdom, grace, and protective strength.
Intricate Stone Setting
This statue is elegantly decorated with semi-precious stones including turquoise, coral, and lapis lazuli. These gemstones are carefully selected and skillfully set to highlight the figure’s divine details, offering a vibrant contrast to the gold finish. This intricate stone setting adds a layer of luxurious detail and spiritual symbolism, enhancing both aesthetic and energetic presence.
Gold Painted Face – Symbolic Vitality
The face of Green Tara is hand-painted in gold, bringing her compassionate expression to life. This sacred practice, deeply rooted in Buddhist tradition, imbues the statue with spiritual vitality and prepares it for consecration. Gold-painting the eyes and lips ensures that the divine essence of Tara is beautifully and vividly captured, honoring both deity and devotee.
Full Fire Gold Plating – Traditional Excellence
Crafted with fire mercury gold plating, this statue boasts a radiant, authentic glow. Unlike modern electroplating, this traditional method involves the meticulous fusing of gold using a mercury-based technique. Highly valued in Nepal, fire gold plating is celebrated for its durability, richness, and cultural authenticity. It provides a finish that is not only beautiful but deeply respected in sacred art traditions.

From initial wax model to final casting, every detail is attentively rendered by master artisans. The result is a flawlessly intricate sculpture that reflects both technical mastery and deep spiritual reverence.
