Yellow Jambhala: The God of Wealth and Generosity

Yellow Jambhala (also known as Dzambhala, Zambala, or Jambala) is revered in Tibetan Buddhism as the God of Wealth. A powerful emanation of Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig)—the Bodhisattva of Compassion—Jambhala bestows not only material wealth but also spiritual prosperity and protection from suffering.

Often identified with the Hindu deity Kubera, Yellow Jambhala is part of the Ratnasambhava Family, which is associated with abundance and generosity. He manifests in a wrathful form to overcome negative energies, harmful spirits, and the obstacles that block spiritual and material success. His presence symbolizes blessing, prosperity, protection, and stability—making this thangka both a sacred object and a talisman of fortune.

According to Gyalten Sogdzin Rinpoche, Jambhala protects all spiritual lineages and sentient beings, removing sickness, misfortune, and obstacles, while fostering inner and outer wealth.

Use of Real Gold

This exceptional thangka features real gold detailing, an ancient Tibetan technique where pure gold is ground into fine dust and carefully mixed with natural binding agents. This luxurious blend is then used to hand-paint divine elements of the image, adding radiance, depth, and sacred energy to the artwork. Real gold embellishment enhances both the visual beauty and the spiritual power of the thangka.

About Thangka Art

A thangka (also spelled tangka, thanka, or tanka) is a traditional Tibetan Buddhist painting known for its fine craftsmanship, sacred iconography, and deep spiritual symbolism. These artworks are typically painted on cotton canvas using mineral pigments and natural dyes.

Designed as portable scroll paintings, thangkas are traditionally unframed and rolled for storage or travel. They are mounted on rich silk brocade backings with a protective silk curtain. Their primary function is to serve as visual aids for meditation, prayer, and ritual—offering a window into the divine and guiding practitioners toward enlightenment, mindfulness, and inner peace.

Proper preservation in a dry environment is essential to maintain the longevity and integrity of the painting.
