About Green Tara
Known as Samaya Tara in tantric tradition, Green Tara is one of the most beloved and revered female bodhisattvas in Tibetan Buddhism. She embodies swift compassion—always ready to rise and assist beings in distress. Unlike many deities depicted in full meditation, Green Tara is shown in royal ease posture, with one leg extended, symbolizing her willingness to leap into action to protect and guide.
Adorned in flowing maroon robes and elegant jewelry, she is seated upon a white moon disk, symbolizing purity and the calming nectar of compassion. The blue lotus beneath her extended leg represents divine purity and spiritual awakening. Each element of her appearance is deeply symbolic:
Her earrings reflect patience and renunciation.
The five-jeweled diadem atop her head signifies the transformation of the five poisons into the Five Wisdoms of the Buddhas.
Her right hand, lowered in Varada mudra, signifies her power to bestow blessings and protection.
Green Tara’s serene yet active presence embodies courage, healing, and protection from fear—making her a powerful guardian for personal and spiritual transformation.
Silver-Plated with Chocolate Oxidized Finish
This statue features a distinctive silver and chocolate oxidized finish, offering visual depth and contrast. Carefully selected sections are silver-plated to reflect light and highlight detail, while the oxidized patina creates a rich, antique tone that accentuates the sculptural depth.
The result is a visually compelling statue with a timeless aesthetic that honors traditional Tibetan artistry while fitting beautifully in contemporary spaces.
Gold Painted Face
The face of Green Tara is delicately painted with 24k gold, a sacred practice in Himalayan Buddhist art. This gold detailing—particularly around the eyes and lips—imbues the statue with lifelike expression and spiritual presence.
The gold-painted face is more than an artistic feature; it symbolizes consecration and spiritual readiness. It is believed to bring the statue to life, allowing it to serve as a true object of devotion and meditation.
Lost-Wax Casting Technique
Created using the lost-wax method (investment casting), this Green Tara statue is the product of generations of master craftsmanship. Artisans first sculpt a wax model, which is then coated with ceramic layers. Once hardened, the wax is melted away, and molten copper is poured into the mold.
This ancient process captures even the finest details of the original design, producing a precise and highly detailed sculpture. The finished piece is both a sacred representation and a collector’s treasure—celebrating the spirit and skill of Nepalese metalwork
