About Green Tara

Green Tara, also known as Samaya Tara, embodies compassion and swift action. She is depicted in a royal ease posture, with her right leg extended, symbolizing her readiness to aid those in need. She wears maroon Buddhist robes and intricate jewelry, including earrings that represent patience and wisdom. The five-jewel diadem signifies the transformation of delusions into the Five Buddha Wisdoms. She is seated on a white moon disk, representing the wisdom aspect in Buddhism, which, when united with compassion, leads to enlightenment. Her right hand is gracefully positioned in the Varada Mudra, symbolizing the granting of blessings.

Sacred Serenity Collection

This rare Green Tara statue is approximately 15–20 years old, crafted by skilled artisans who followed sacred guidelines to ensure spiritual authenticity. Unlike modern statues, which use minimal gold, these older pieces feature thick gold plating where applied. The artisans viewed their work as divine representations rather than mere sculptures, capturing intricate expressions and postures with devotion and precision.

Gold-Painted Face

The face of this Green Tara is delicately hand-painted with gold to enhance its expressive features, particularly the eyes and lips. This sacred practice imbues the statue with a sense of vitality and presence, preparing it for consecration and ritual use. The gold-painted face is a revered tradition, signifying devotion and craftsmanship.

Partly Gold-Plated Finish

This Green Tara features partial fire-gilded gold plating, a revered Nepali handicraft technique. Artisans carefully mask selected areas before applying heat and pressure to bond the gold to exposed surfaces. This technique creates a striking contrast between the radiant golden body and the oxidized or maroon-painted garments, symbolizing the divine purity of Tara’s form and the modest attire of Buddhist practitioners.

Lost-Wax Casting Method

Handcrafted using the ancient lost-wax casting technique, this statue embodies traditional metal artistry. The process involves sculpting a wax model, coating it with a ceramic shell, and replacing the wax with molten metal. This results in a precise and highly detailed sculpture, preserving the artisan’s original vision with exceptional accuracy.
