About Manjushri
Manjushri, whose name in Sanskrit means “Gentle Glory,” represents the embodiment of transcendent wisdom in Mahayana Buddhism. As the Bodhisattva of wisdom, Manjushri is known to bestow mastery of the Dharma, clarity of speech, and sharpness of intellect. He plays a vital role in guiding practitioners on the path of a bodhisattva, offering insight, eloquence, and the capacity to discern the true nature of reality. His presence is often invoked in meditative and scholastic practices to awaken deep inner understanding.

Stone Setting
This Manjushri statue is richly decorated with semi-precious stones such as turquoise, coral, and lapis lazuli. Each stone is meticulously selected and hand-set by skilled artisans using a strong, lasting adhesive. The careful arrangement of these vibrant stones adds an ornamental brilliance that contrasts beautifully with the gold-plated surface, highlighting the spiritual and artistic value of the statue.

Gold Painted Face
The facial features of Manjushri are delicately hand-painted with gold, drawing special attention to his eyes and lips. This fine detailing brings expressive depth and life to the statue that cannot be achieved through carving alone. In Buddhist tradition, painting the face of a deity is a sacred act of consecration, signifying the awakening of spiritual energy within the form. It reflects both the artisan’s devotion and the importance of honoring the divine qualities of the bodhisattva.

Full Fire Gold Plating
This statue features traditional fire gold plating, also known as mercury gold plating—a revered method in Nepali craftsmanship. Unlike modern electroplating, this authentic technique involves bonding real gold to the copper surface using heat and mercury, resulting in a rich, luminous finish that is both durable and visually striking. This method is increasingly sought after for its superior quality and deep cultural significance, reflecting a return to heritage and authenticity in sacred art.

Lost-Wax Casting Process
Crafted through the lost-wax casting technique, this statue is the result of a centuries-old process that ensures precision and artistic excellence. The journey begins with a finely sculpted wax model, which is encased in a ceramic mold. Once the mold hardens, the wax is melted and drained, leaving a cavity that is then filled with molten copper. After cooling, the outer shell is removed to reveal the final sculpture—capturing every intricate detail of the original model. This process guarantees a one-of-a-kind piece that carries the hallmark of traditional Nepalese metalwork.
