🪷 About Shakyamuni Buddha
The word Buddha comes from the ancient Sanskrit language, meaning “awakened one” or “supreme awareness,” closely related to Bodhi, which signifies enlightenment. Gautama Shakyamuni, born around 563 BCE in Lumbini (modern-day Nepal), is a symbol of enlightened wisdom and compassionate presence. His teachings focus on the root causes of human suffering—primarily desire, greed, and attachment—and emphasize the path of mindfulness and inner awakening. Unlike the material-focused ideals of the West, Shakyamuni Buddha’s serene form reminds us that liberation from suffering comes through self-awareness and compassion.

Stone Setting
This exquisite statue is embellished with hand-set semi-precious stones, including turquoise, coral, and lapis lazuli. These vibrant stones are carefully selected for their beauty and symbolic meaning, then precisely placed using high-quality adhesives. The colorful mosaic of natural patterns brings depth and richness to the statue, highlighting its intricate craftsmanship and spiritual elegance.

Gold Painted Face
The face of the Buddha is delicately hand-painted with gold to bring life and expression to its features, particularly the eyes and lips. This sacred practice is more than decoration—it’s a ritual of consecration in Buddhism. The golden finish on the face conveys vitality and spiritual presence, reflecting both the devotion of the artisans and the sacred essence of the Shakyamuni Buddha.

Traditional Fire Gold Plating
This statue is adorned with full fire gold plating—a revered and time-honored method also known as mercury gold plating. Unlike modern electroplating, this technique applies a genuine layer of gold using heat and mercury, resulting in a deeper, more authentic shine. Though more labor-intensive and costly, this traditional method is prized for its durability and the timeless beauty it imparts. It reflects the deep-rooted craftsmanship and cultural legacy of Nepal.

Lost-Wax Casting Method
Crafted using the ancient lost-wax casting technique, this statue is a product of extraordinary artisanal skill. The process starts with a finely detailed wax model, which is encased in layers of ceramic. Once hardened, the wax is melted away and replaced with molten metal, capturing every delicate detail in the final sculpture. This method has been used for millennia to produce sacred and enduring metal art.
