Chhinnamasta: Ferocious Tantric Goddess
Chhinnamasta, also known as Chinnamastika, Prachanda Chandika, and Jogani Maa, is a ferocious aspect of Devi, the Hindu Mother Goddess. She is one of the Mahavidyas, the ten Tantric goddesses from esoteric traditions.

Depicted as self-decapitated, Chhinnamasta stands or sits on a divine couple. One hand holds her severed head while the other wields a scimitar. Three streams of blood flow from her neck—two feeding her attendants and one feeding herself. This striking iconography symbolizes the cycle of life, self-sacrifice, and the balance of creation and destruction.

What Makes This a Rare Find?
This Chhinnamasta thangka is a unique and elusive artwork, rarely found in the marketplace. It is a one-of-a-kind creation, highly sought after by collectors and spiritual art enthusiasts. Once sold, it will be permanently removed from our listings.

Exquisite Oil Antique Finish
The painting features an antique oil finish, achieved through a special varnishing process. This technique creates the impression of an aged artwork, reminiscent of thangkas graced by butter lamps over centuries. The resulting effect is a captivating blend of timeless beauty and spiritual reverence.

Newari Paubha: The Art of Nepal
This Chhinnamasta thangka is a traditional Newari paubha painting. Paubhas are sacred artworks created by the Newar people of Nepal, depicting Hindu and Buddhist deities, mandalas, and spiritual scenes. Crafted on cotton canvas, these paintings are used for meditation, rituals, and religious festivals.

The Chitrakar caste, known as Pun in Nepal Bhasa, is renowned for their mastery in creating paubhas. Each piece reflects meticulous craftsmanship and deep spiritual significance.

Thangka: Sacred Scroll Art
Thangkas, or Tibetan scroll paintings, are intricate artworks depicting deities, mandalas, and spiritual teachings. Made on cotton or silk appliqué, thangkas are traditionally rolled for storage and mounted on textile backings with silk covers for protection.

Preserve this thangka in a dry environment to maintain its beauty and longevity.

This Chhinnamasta Thangka Painting is a collector’s treasure, blending artistic mastery, cultural heritage, and spiritual depth. Whether for meditation, display, or collection, this rare artwork adds profound significance to any setting.
