About Shakyamuni Buddha
Shakyamuni Buddha, also known as Gautama Buddha, was born around 563 BCE in Lumbini, present-day Nepal. The term Buddha means “awakened one,” symbolizing enlightenment and supreme awareness. Shakyamuni’s teachings focus on overcoming suffering through the cessation of desire, a concept resonating across several Eastern philosophies.

Rather than promoting materialism or external validation, his path emphasizes simplicity, compassion, and mindfulness. His life and teachings continue to inspire millions to seek clarity, peace, and freedom from suffering by transforming inner consciousness.

Gold Painted Face – A Sacred Tradition
The statue’s face is hand-painted with pure gold to highlight key facial features—especially the eyes and lips—bringing out expressions that casting alone cannot achieve. This sacred painting process is part of a consecration ritual in Buddhist tradition.

The application of gold symbolizes awakening and vitality. It is a gesture of devotion and respect by the artisan, ensuring the statue not only reflects beauty but embodies spiritual energy and presence.

Full Fire Gold Plating – Authentic and Lasting
This statue features traditional fire gold plating, also known as mercury gold plating. It is a centuries-old Nepali method that uses genuine gold to coat the surface, resulting in a rich and lasting luster.

Unlike modern electroplating, fire gold plating is more durable, rare, and culturally authentic. Its resurgence in Nepal reflects growing appreciation for handcrafted religious art and traditional techniques.

Crafted by the Lost-Wax Method
This Shakyamuni Buddha was created using the lost-wax casting technique, one of the oldest metal sculpting processes.

Artisans begin by shaping a detailed wax model, which is then encased in a ceramic mold. The wax is melted and drained, and molten metal is poured into the cavity. Once cooled, the ceramic shell is broken away to reveal the final sculpture—capturing intricate details with unmatched precision.
