Introduction to Shakyamuni Buddha
The title “Buddha” originates from the Sanskrit word meaning “awakened one,” symbolizing supreme awareness and enlightenment. Shakyamuni Buddha, also known as Gautama Buddha, was born around 563 BCE in Lumbini, Nepal. His teachings center on understanding and overcoming desire, greed, and ego—factors that perpetuate suffering.

His image, calm and compassionate, represents a timeless spiritual message that transcends religions. Unlike materialistic ideals, Shakyamuni’s serene form promotes mindfulness, inner wisdom, and compassion for all beings.

Finishing Details
Stone Inlay
This statue is embellished with a stunning array of semi-precious stones such as turquoise, coral, and lapis lazuli. These stones are intricately inlaid using high-grade adhesive to ensure both durability and elegance. The colorful stonework enhances the visual richness of the statue, offering spiritual beauty and artisanal detail.

Gold-Painted Face
The facial features are hand-painted with genuine gold to accentuate expressions—especially the eyes and lips—that can’t be achieved through metal carving alone. This technique not only enhances the statue’s aesthetic presence but also carries ritual significance, preparing it for spiritual consecration and practice.

Full Fire Gold Plating
This statue is finished with traditional fire gold plating, also known as mercury gold plating—a revered Nepali method that fuses gold to the statue at high temperatures. Though more labor-intensive and costly than electroplating, it provides superior longevity and an authentic antique appearance. The resurgence of this method reflects a renewed appreciation for Nepalese heritage and craftsmanship.

Craftsmanship: Lost-Wax Casting Method
The statue is created using the lost-wax casting technique, a time-honored method of sculpture-making. The process starts with a wax model, which is coated in ceramic to form a mold. After the wax is melted away, molten copper is poured in to form the final sculpture. Once cooled and the mold is removed, the statue is cleaned, polished, gold-plated, painted, and inlaid with stones.
Each piece requires highly skilled artisans and many hours of careful craftsmanship, ensuring uniqueness in every detail.
