What is a Singing Bowl?

Singing bowls, also known as Himalayan bowls, are widely used in yoga, music therapy, sound healing, and Buddhist ceremonies. In Buddhist traditions, they are played to mark the beginning and end of meditation sessions. Tibetan bowls emit pure, harmonious tones similar to sine waves, producing a sound associated with clarity and tranquility. Like a bell, they create a resonant tone when struck with a wooden mallet. By gently running the mallet along the rim, a continuous, soothing sound emerges—hence the name “singing bowl.”

Request a Sound Check

We carefully inspect each singing bowl to ensure its sound quality and resonance. However, if you’d like to hear the bowl before purchasing, we offer a sound check service for a nominal fee of $2. This non-refundable deposit will be deducted from your total purchase. Please note that due to microphone and speaker limitations, the recorded sound may differ slightly from the actual resonance.

Yantra Mandala – A Sacred Symbol

The Yantra Mandala design on this bowl represents the interconnectedness of the universe and serves as a meditation aid. Mandalas are intricate geometric patterns often used in Buddhist Thangka paintings, helping practitioners achieve mindfulness, harmony, and enlightenment.

The Hand-Beaten Craftsmanship Process

Each handmade bronze singing bowl undergoes a meticulous crafting process:

  1. Metal Alloy Formation – A mix of copper and tin is melted and poured into a mold.
  2. Hand-Hammering – Skilled artisans hammer the bowl into shape, refining its thickness for a perfect tone.
  3. Polishing & Etching – The surface is polished, and intricate designs are hand-etched using fine artistry techniques.

About the Etching & Carving

Unlike standard etched singing bowls, this piece features exceptionally fine carving. A skilled Thangka artist created the detailed design, ensuring thinner and more intricate lines for a premium aesthetic.
